  11. VBSYX is designed to decode and encode System Exclusive (SYSEX) messages
  12. for many Roland <tm> Sound Modules and Cards. Currently, the program
  13. specifically supports SYSEX messages for the SC-55, SC-155, SCC1, SC-88,
  14. M-GS64 and RAP-10. Other compatible modules/cards will probably work with
  15. this program: however, they are not specifically supported.

  17. All Yamaha XG Sound Modules and Cards are supported.

  51. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR VBSYX
  52. ===================================

  54.     1) Unzip this archive. Run the SETUP.EXE program enclosed.
  55.  
  56.                 WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING

  58.        If you don't have a copy of VBRUN300.DLL (the Visual Basic 3
  59.        DLL runtime library) in your x:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, the
  60.        SETUP program and VBSYX won't run. Get hold of a copy or ask
  61.        me for one.
  62.  
  63.     2) The program will copy CMDIALOG.VBX, SPIN.VBX, THREED.VBX,
  64.        GRID.VBX, COMMDLG.DLL, MIDIVBX.VBX and CALLBACK.DLL to your
  65.        x:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory if you don't already have a copy
  66.        of these files.

  68.        Note: You may have older versions of these files. VBSYX will
  69.        NOT work with them. If the program won't load OR does strange
  70.        things during operation, use the VBXs I sent you. MAKE BACKUP
  71.        COPIES OF YOUR ORIGINALS FIRST!

  73.        It MIGHT be possible to set the Working Directory for the
  74.        Program Item to be the same as the directory where all files
  75.        that came with this program are stored. This should work, but
  76.        it is not foolproof as Windows may have loaded the other VBXs
  77.        for use by other Windows programs. Play safe: copy the files.
  78.        Keep the old VBXs in case something else stops working <g>
  79.  
  80.     3) Use PKUNZIP or whatever to unzip the SYX.ZIP file to a
  81.        suitable directory (e.g., C:\VBSYX\SYSEX). This file contains
  82.        example SYSEX files for you to use.

  84.     4) Let it rip. View the HELP, CONTENTS FIRST! I know: you never
  85.        use help. Well, in this case, do what you're told. There are
  86.        some *very* important messages there.
  87.  
  88. Let me know if you find any bugs - if you don't, I won't know to fix them.
  89. If possible, MIME send me a copy of any .SYX file you are having trouble
  90. with. This will make my diagnostic work much easier %-) I'll take a
  91. UUENCODED version at a pinch. Send this to the addresses shown below.

  112. All features of the shareware version of this program are enabled, except
  113. for the Dump feature. If you decide to register this program, you will
  114. receive a key which will enable this feature and will disable the annoying
  115. messages in the shareware version.
